Open house ribbon cutting

Our Doors Are Open

A look back at our grand opening

On May 7, we officially welcomed the public into the Friends of the Children – Eastern Washington clubhouse for the very first time.

The evening began with a ribbon cutting. More than 50 community members, partners, and supporters gathered to celebrate, explore the space, and learn more about what we do every day.

The clubhouse is more than a building. It is where mentors and youth meet each week, where programs like Literacy Club and Cultural Connections take place, and where kids feel welcome, safe, and supported. For our team, watching people move through the space and take it all in made all the preparation worth it.

We are especially grateful to the Spokane Schools Native Education Department, whose collaboration has been central to how we are building our program. Their team has been instrumental in helping us connect with Native youth and families who would benefit from our services, while also strengthening relationships with local schools.

Their cultural leadership and willingness to work alongside our team have helped create stronger support systems for Native students and real opportunities for youth to feel seen, valued, and encouraged. Most importantly, Native youth are able to see adults in their community working together on their behalf, grounded in respect and a shared commitment to their future.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and to the partners who make this work possible.
