Literacy Club
Building Strong Readers Together
Our Literacy Club meets every other week with youth and their caregivers to support early reading and writing in a way that feels encouraging and accessible. We focus on meeting each child where they are and using hands-on activities that keep youth engaged, build confidence, and make learning enjoyable.
In the first few months of Literacy Club, we concentrate on developing foundational skills that support early literacy. Youth are working on recognizing beginning consonant sounds, practicing name writing, and strengthening early writing skills. These activities help children build familiarity with letters and sounds while gaining confidence in their abilities.
We also emphasize fine motor development and spatial awareness through hands-on learning. Activities are designed to support pencil grip, letter formation, and placement on the page, helping youth build skills that support classroom learning.
By bringing youth and caregivers together around learning, Literacy Club creates a shared experience that reinforces growth both during club meetings and at home. This consistent, supportive approach helps lay the groundwork for continued progress in reading and writing while keeping learning engaging and fun.
