R-Jay Barsh is a veteran basketball coach and assistant coach for the Gonzaga University men’s basketball team, known for his dedication to player development and community engagement.
Barsh emphasizes mentorship and accountability, regularly meeting with players to set goals and encouraging them to apply their competitive drive to all areas of life. He previously served as a University Fellow at Boise State, leading panels on issues affecting student-athletes and acting as a campus liaison.
His coaching career includes head coaching at Southeastern University, where he led the Fire to three NAIA national tournament appearances and a historic Final Four in 2013-14, earning a finalist nod for Don Meyer National Coach of the Year. At Boise State, he helped the Broncos achieve a record-setting season, winning both the Mountain West regular season and tournament titles in 2022. In 2023, Barsh returned to his native Washington to join Gonzaga’s coaching staff.
